It is easy to feel overwhelmed when you consider the workload ahead and the level of difficulty. Under circumstances like these, the breath tends to change to a quick exhale and a long inhale.
This breath pattern can cause hyperventilation. To reset your system, you can try this breath:
Pattern 2-8-8
Start your breath pattern by slowing down your exhale. Instead of the end of your breath pattern, think of the exhale as the beginning of your breath.
You need your exhale and your inhale to be the same length. Once you have achieved this, you will begin the Pattern 2-8-8.
Each time you find you have switched back to the short exhale and long inhale, you can repeat the breath pattern.
